Votre visite me fait prendre conscience que dans les différentes guitares que j'ai, il y a des guitares données par la maison Jacobacci, et je ne savais absolument pas, effectivement, que j'en avais tant (ce n'est pas que j'en ai beaucoup), mais il me revient à l'esprit le fait que des gens comme Sacha Distel ont payé leurs guitares : la première Distel qui a été commandée par Sacha a été payée par Sacha. La première Gimenez, pour Gimenez, a été payée, sauf erreur de ma part, par Gimenez. Je ne pense pas qu'ils l'aient offerte. Par contre, moi, ils m'ont offert des guitares. Ca me rappelle une anecdote racontée par Roger et André au sujet d'Hugues Auffray, rentrant dans l'atelier et qui leur explique qu'il faisait des télés et qu'il lui fallait une guitare Jacobacci pour faire de la pub et qui dit : vous allez me faire une guitare et vous allez me la donner, hein, quoi ! Et là Dédé, qui parlait très peu, arrête de poncer, lui montre l'horloge et lui dit : ici, on ne donne jamais rien ! Même l'heure, on ne la donne pas : si tu veux la savoir, tu n'as qu'à la regarder !

... mais quand André et Roger ont été expulsés de la rue Duris par la Ville de Paris, c'est Hugues Auffray qui a été le tout premier à signer la pétition!

Your visit make me realise that among the different Jacobacci guitars I own, some of them where given away by the shop, I really did not know that I actually owned so many of them (although I did not own plenty of them), but it come back to my mind the fact that people like Sacha Distel actualy paid for their guitars: the first Distel guitar was ordered by Sacha, and, if I remember well, paid by Sacha. The first Gimenez guitar,Gimenez's own, unless I mistake, was paid by Gimenez. I don't think they gave it away. To the contrary, they gave me guitars. It reminds me of a story told by Roger and André about Hugues Auffray (note from the translator, a famous French skiffle/folk singer, who translated Bob Dylan's songs in French in the mid sixties), getting inside the shop, telling them he was playing on TV shows and he needed a Jacobacci guitar to advertise the brand and that they had to build a guitar and give it to him, you know . And then Dédé, he scarcely used to speak,  shown him the clock on the wall and said : here, we never give nothing! Even the time it is, we do not give: if you want to know it, you've got to help yourself!

... but when André and Roger were about to be evicted from the rue Duris shop by the city council of Paris, Hugues Auffray was the very first one to sign the petition!
